The Dow Jones industrial average plunged a record 1,175 points, or 4.6%, on Monday as a sell-off in the stock market gained momentum less than two weeks after the market set record highs.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell as much as 500 points in early trading Tuesday, bringing the index down 10% from the record high it reached Jan. 26.
The selloff has wiped off all its gains since the start of 2018.

The drop in early trading marked the third straight day of steep declines.
Asia shares have also been down sharply.
