Tech stocks lead U.S. indexes higher

A slide in technology stocks pulled the Nasdaq down.

Stocks are opening higher on Wall Street as technology companies post solid gains.

Big-name companies notched gains on Wall Street on Tuesday, bringing the Standard & Poor’s 500 index and the Dow Jones industrial average to new highs for the second day this week.

Technology companies led U.S. stocks modestly higher Monday, driving the market to another set of milestones.

Both indexes also set record highs Friday.

Hard drive maker Western Digital gained 3% after it resolved a dispute with its partner Toshiba over Toshiba's plan to sell its flash memory business.
